The Earl May Seed Company was founded in Shenandoah, Iowa, in 1919 by Earl E. May. He started the business to sell quality seeds and gardening products to the local community. Over time, the company expanded to offer nursery plants, gardening tools, and other products. Shenandoah has a history of horticulture, which helped the company grow. Today, the Earl May Seed Company is known for its good customer service and reliable products, making it a go-to resource for many gardeners and farmers in the Midwest.

Conservation Process: This seed sack was hand sewn to cotton fabric, and both were hand sewn to a mounting board.  To prevent the black dye in the cotton fabric from seeping into the sack, it was first washed in a standard wash and then in a dye setting wash.  The sack is positioned behind Optium Museum Acrylic.

Frame: This offering is in a distressed wooden frame.

Condition Report: There are some minor stains, but overall it is in excellent condition.
